There seems to be a LOT of overlap in membership between these two teams.

I'm myself not a great "team member" of either team-- not a participant in team challenges, maximizing team points etc.

But: the overlap in membership suggests that lots of people use Beck techniques (among other strategies) to lost weight and to MAINtain : which is the MAIN thing for most of us here at Spark People.

And the At Goal & Maintaining site has amazing resources including the Big Page of Links and expert tracking on the statistics of maintainers.

That second part of the long unwieldy title to the At Goal & Maintaining team? The "Transition to Maintenance" part?

That's right!! You don't have to be "At Goal" to qualify for the At Goal & Maintaining Team. You're welcome right from the start. You can be "Transitioning to Maintenance" from Day One of your journey -- when you've still got 50 or 100 or more pounds to lose.

What do you want to get out of Spark People? Probably: to lose weight. But: most of us have done that before, lots of times, before we found Spark People.

This time, after you lose the weight, you want to MAINTAIN weight loss.

Then, maybe, to stick around and support other people in achieving the same goals?

Both the Beck team and the At Goal team are full of long term members who are exceptionally supportive people.

    Shout out to you for shouting out for two great teams!

    I also shout out to those team leaders and active members who share so much of their time and personal insights! Love belonging to both of those teams.

    I joined "Maintenance team pretty early on in my weightloss because each time I plateaued or should I say stalled out I call it practice for maintenance. So yes, most definantly not just for those already at goal.

    I still resist a few "beckniques" rebelliously, but the book, techniques, and team members are extremely beneficial.

    I love SparkPeople place! Mostly just hop around and listen in with comments here and there.

    I'm not a Beck person. I'm also not at goal.

    But I get a lot out of the maintaining and transitioning to maintenance team. (At your suggestion.)

    So yes, people! As you approach your goal, it really helps to join that team!!!

    Great overview of the team's purpose, especially the explanation for transition to maintenance. Not a member of either team. The people I follow, like yourself, are inspiration and information enough!

    Thanks for publicizing the teals, even though you're not a member. I've learned a lot by reading Beck followers' blogs, and the At Goal .. team helps me to atay on track, even after 15 years of maintenance!

    I’m sure Spark and the maintainers group are why I HAVE maintained this time. In the maintainers group, the challenges are motivating without taking over your life. I love it.

    Yep, I joined the At Goal and Maintaining + Transition to Maintenance team when I was four pounds above my original goal weight... in fact about 25 pounds above where my body declared its home range. I didn't even know it existed until someone commented on one of my blogs and invited me to go join it. Remember WALKINGANNIE? She was a great ambassador for that team.

    Beck I joined much later, kind of following other maintainers around. Some folks are SO loyal to one program, and if you're going to pick ONE... Beck is a great one. Me? Just my personality, I can't go back over and over and over to the same one... gotta have something new, or old enough that I've forgot and need to be reminded... or I need to recycle vocabulary. But I keep my Beck membership.

    AND you are spot on: I'm on Spark because it's the ONLY thing that has ever worked to help me maintain... my motivation, and my lifestyle! emoticon emoticon

    I see the At Goal &Maintaining + Transition to Maintenance team as my long-term reward for when I get closer to goal weight -- my carrot at the end of the stick. Feel blessed to have multiple SP Friends who have done the work and continue to do the work and are members of both teams.

    Thank you for bringing this up!! I am officially maintaining a weight loss of 170 lbs. but of course would like to lose about 15 more lbs. and I as well celebrate July 4th as my maintenance anniversary being set free of all those pounds. I had lost about 160 lbs when I joined the At goal & maintaining + transition to maintenance team and I myself felt like a fraud but came to realize that I have kept most of that weight off and needed to get over myself and celebrate the new me in all respects! I would encourage anyone that is curious about maintenance to join!!

    For sure, my attitude about weight loss changed for the better when I joined the "transition to maintenance..." team. Hanging out with the maintainers taught me that maintaining weight loss is the same as losing weight. The skills and habits are the same for both! Great blog!

    I'm currently maintaining a weight loss from 5 years ago and STILL trying to loose more. I try to celebrate that maintenance rather than bemoan my lack of progress!
