Is More Fat in my diet the answer to my digestive issues? I’ve been eating a really high protein/low fat diet for quite some time now. My stomach was getting knots in it that hurt after I ate a meal. It was getting to the point that I wasn’t enjoying wedding receptions, get togethers, etc. I saw these bars at the store & remembered that they somehow seemed to help my stomach. I bought the high fat low carb coconut almond bars and after just one bar, I felt much better and thought, hmmmmm - those are basically all fat, coconut. I also bought a good probiotic and have added that too. Since then, I’ve been cutting back on the amount of protein (still trying to eat some with every meal, just less) and having more veggies and more fats in my diet. I also added soaked chia seeds in my smoothies and a fiber one bar or really dark chocolate each day, and wait for it.... full fat icecream at night! Fit into my calorie count of course and the scale has gone down and my gut feels SO much better! I haven’t had an issue with it all week which is very rare for me!

    Also bone broth made into beef & barley vegetable soup, 1/4 tsp coconut oil in my coffee, and balsamic vinegar on my salads!

    I cut out dairy, have been eating clean and my stomach has been really good lately! I’ve been eating - eggs, steamed veggies, chicken breast, fish, baked oatmeal with applesauce, fruits, rice cakes, coffee, coconut oil, pure protein bars 😊

    I have found some of the bars give me stomach issues too. Depending on which ones several of them have a bunch of sugar. Which they seem healthy but in reality could be hurting your diet.

    Absolutely, I think those shakes with the fake sugar/sucrolose (gross) were causing me all the stomachs/gut issues. I am so glad I cut those out of my diet. I now have Raw shakes sweetened with stevia & I haven’t had any more issues.

    Update... I really think that sugar substitutes were the problem. I’ve completely cut them out of my diet. I eat very little foods with gluten, very little beans- mostly lean meats, veggies, low fat cheese, bananas, berries... 35/35/30 👍🏼

    I’ve also cut way back on raw spinach and lettuce. I still think the Sucralose shakes were the culprit, but I think the raw spinach had something to do with it.

    Update: it’s possible that the Sucralose in the ideallean shakes that I was using have been causing my stomach issues. That, along with too much fiber and not being able to digest it. I’m doing better but wish I knew exactly what it was!

    Good advice with the healthy fats! I’ve been eating avocado and having a little olive oil too. I love salmon so I will be sure to add that. Keto is not for me! I’ve tried it for a couple of months a while back.

    I agree completely with TICIASPLAN. Be careful...too much protein or too much fat can cause issues. Everything in BALANCE.

    All digestion issues and all fats are not created equal. I would not recommend eating fat, unless it's a healthy fat like in salmon or Avocados. Probiotics and fiber would definitely help with digestion. A Keto diet might of interest to you.
