The scale and I

Saturday, September 01, 2018

Well. I found a use for my obsession with the scale numbers. When I get a bad craving I weigh myself. Why? My weight at the moment becomes a road marker. The lower the number the further I've progress. So I step on the scale, read the number and decide how far back I want to go. Back to 200,lbs? Add another 50? Or maybe I DON'T want to go backward. Lord knows how long it took to get this far. I'd just have to make the trek again. What cost of a binge? Honestly I have caved sometimes. But even then I only back up a little way. Maybe a pound or two. Mostly though I don't cave. I celebrate my progress and go find something else to do.

"The scale can only give you a numerical reflection of your relationship with gravity. That’s it. It cannot measure beauty, talent, purpose, life force, possibility, strength, or love. Don’t give the scale more power than it has earned. Take note of the number, then get off the scale and live your life. You are beautiful!"
