Cooking while "not cooking" Christmas dinner and "avoiding" snacking!

Sunday, December 23, 2018

I thought I could avoid it all but apparently not.
It was "expected" I'd make bread. No problem, it's my specialty.
I had been "requested" to bring cinnamon, pecan/maple sticky buns to DD2 and SIL2. Then I found out GS2 was awaiting my baking skills as well! They'll be made Christmas eve.
I offered to make lasagna for DD2's Christmas dinner. It took two days of creating marinara sauce from my frozen home grown tomatoes, then building the monster to freeze.
Simply cook on Christmas Day while I'm baking the bread....Oven's on all morning.
Oh, cookies!
Not on my list anymore, yesterday DD1 called to say they'd be driving by checking out Christmas lights and would stop in. DH said, how about cookies? I made two kinds. As I was finishing, DD1 called to say stomach bug now hit SIL1. Could I go to the store for her (for the 3rd time in 2 weeks)?
I managed to make the lasagna, eating 3 slices of provolone as my lunch.
Cookies, well, er, I tasted several to make sure they cooked right. Good thing is I don't eat them once they are done and put away. Whew.
I was too busy to rummage through cabinets or the refrigerator for bites to eat the past few days!

My sister Karen has a hard time saying "no". She moans and groans, but she really likes doing it and she loves being able to be "mom." I think you have a similar affliction. No sympathy here. I'm on to you.

Whoa!! You, so need to learn to say “No!”
Time to pass down the recipes - unless you want to do it all...

You have been really busy. Me, too. We went to hubby's Christmas lunch at work, shopped yesterday, I did some cleaning and outdoor chores today. And I will do some cooking. But I still find time to eat, unfortunately. Hubby brings me morsels, like I am a baby bird or a female bird he is courting. I need to check your cookies to see if they are still okay...................... emoticon

You are a SAINT! I’m tired just reading of your culinary prowess! Holy, sounds equal parts, daunting, exhausting, annnnnnnnd delish. It also says a lot about your traditions...I completely understand. Showing your love says waaaaaay more than you can ever imagine.

Stay well, enjoy, no more cookies...you’re sweet enough. Hahaho...

    Yeah, but isn’t it fun?
I am having my three plus a bonus kidlet over for gingerbread houses today, mostly to give their parents the day to finish up or at least get organized.
I have made and frozen many cookies (DH makes a few batches of his specialties).
I have ordered a big beautiful roast for our Christmas dinner for nine of us.
Tomorrow I will make a big batch of cinnamon rolls and send them over to my son’s house for Xmas morning (keeping some here for DD and DH)
Oh, yeah...last amazon box coming today so I have a wee bit more wrapping to do.
    Geez...might as well have blogged!
    Merry Christmas!

Oh my goodness: you are a SAINT!! (Or, as I always like to say . . . Mary only had to do Christmas once. AND she had lots of help from the heavenly host, the shepherds, the wisemen and so forth . . . !!!)

Hilarious! It's a good thing you don't have to cook Christmas dinner! LOL

Have a great Christmas with your family.

I am glad that we got to meet each other in person this year too.
