Mad Dawg Goal

Today is the first day of the year. A few years ago, I joined a facebook challenge (through ONEKIDSMOM) to run/bike/swim in miles the number of years in that year, so 2,016 miles in 2016. The challenge rules allowed you to have a partner, so I teamed up with another Sparker. We made it, but barely.

This morning someone outside of the Sparkiverse asked me if I had a fitness goal. I found myself saying, I'd like to bike/run 2019 miles. I did the math and it isn't that bad given how much I expect to be riding the stationary bike and later on, biking outdoors. It's 39 miles per week. I average 13 to 16 miles on the stationary bike for each ride. This will motivate me to stick to my schedule of riding on non-strength training days: TThSa. Throw in some gentle runs on the treadmill and I should be fine.

This same someone shared that he was part of a challenge to bike the continental USA (virtually). From the Northwest tip in Washington to the Southeast tip in Florida is over 4,000 miles! He linked to a website, My Virtual Mission, that tracks it: www.myvirtualmis

. So I decided to set up my own journey. I'll be biking, virtually, from Massachusetts to Florida, or 2019 miles! Tricky. See what I did there?

That's the goal for this year. A competition against myself. I like that. It's definitely within my abilities, but I can't let myself slack off.
