The right stuff

Wednesday, January 09, 2019

Considering I have two physicians who have told me exercises I cannot and should do, I've been experimenting in the gym. I get good results avoiding some and not enough oomph with others.
I will continue my quest today....

Big news on the home front which I haven't shared.
I helped DH empty out his storage unit!
He got on board after a few months when he could see how storing things in clear containers, with labels, would allow him to inventory his goods. Mind you, four years ago we purchased a nice shed to help house our pool supplies, his "things" and yard items. Doing this was impossible for the years he was ill and lacked the foresight to understand the process.
We reduced his multitude of bins to ones stored neatly on shelves in the shed.
Most of it is dead electronic things or outdated or donated equipment. He was in charge of government communications when he retired.
Now he can play with his "toys" in the garage.

There was no celebration. There is no big "yippee" from me as I'm still pouting about the lost funds from paying for storage for 6 years plus the price of the shed. I could have gone to Tahiti. Twice.

We're not done with his "things" around the house but I'm working on it. We've learned not to push each other's buttons and I've learned that look in his eye when I've tried too hard!

Unfortunately his abilities and recognition of items has halted my attempts at sneakily throwing things out!

Darn! No more losing stuff while DH had lost it. Marie Kendo is on Netflix, perhaps you could watch that with him?

It does sound like you have made good progress! (I have tried to 'sneak' things out of the house to give to St. Vinnies, but oddly, soon afterwards he will ask: "Whatever happened to my favorite such and such?" .. emoticon …"um … Your Whaaaat?" … Oh boy! .. Cant' put anything past him!

Oh how I love me some progress...sort, pitch, organize?! Alllllllllll day, with my flighty attention span annnnnnd profession of choice I would be lost without it. As for Tahiti, let it go. That dude of yours is the prize (most days!) Priceless. Now start your research and plan that trip. Woulda, coulda, shouldas bring no good...they harken us backwards. Ummmmm, we’re not headed in that direction.

Mega cheers for finding the moves that work for you...offering a challenge and notable progress. All about it!

That's huge progress. Granted, not what you want, but you can't always get what your want.

Ah well, at least you got DH on board. That’s a good thing!

Good luck! I do my best decluttering when Dh isn’t here or isn’t looking!

Tahiti - le sigh!!! Hey, we could always plan a girls' trip - I don't seem to be able to interest my hubby in touring Australia either.
And the garage, equipment barn, & tool room of my big barn are all horrendous messes - both of us have packrat tendencies, when the weather warms up a bit we need to have a major junk haul-off...

You have the right stuff now but I still have the wrong junk. Men are strange animals. I would rather go to Tahiti, my hubby would rather play with your hubby and his dead electronic equipment. I'm sure they could babble about it for hours. Since hubby doesn't have a fellow "nut case" nearby he tries to babble to me about it. I wish your "nut case" lived closer so I could push mine off on yours.

Have you seen Tidying Up by Marie Kondo on Netflix?
I found it very sweet and inspirational.
The first show is about a young family and the second one is about a retired couple so u get a couple of views...that’s all I’ve watched so far.
