Home Gym

Thursday, January 17, 2019

For those ever thinking about a home gym, it has taken me 8 years to build it up, but I could not be prouder. Here is how I did it.

I was one of those that had the gym membership and never went. I wasted money because I was heavy and embarrassed of me even thinking about going to the gym. I decided to cancel my membership. I wanted to workout, but I had to think of a new idea.

With my gym membership money, I put it away I bought a WII and bought the Biggest Loser game. Yes I know what that sounds like what a video game????!!! Yes and it kicked my butt! Sure for a little while I only worked out 10 mins but it kept adding up. I decided I wanted to do something a little more challenging. I started buying a few workout videos. The cheap grade B ones but hey I was working out a little bit more at a time. Ok Ok Richard Simmons was my man! I love him! He gave me so much positivity to workout. There were gals that looked like me!

Once again I was ready for more of a challenge. I started buying weights, then it came to the punching bag, and well you see by the way it looks I have my own little gym. All I did was take the money I was going to use for a gym membership, save it, and make it work for my house.

Our kids are out of the house and have families of their own so we do have more room so maybe you don't have all the room for what we have that is ok save for the things that you would love to have in there!! When I first started my son was still at home and I was renting my house so my weight bench, dumbbells, and punching bag was all I had. Its just a little at a time.

I wanted to blog this to say hey its ok to do the baby steps and get your workout on at home. You do have to be more disciplined and it is hard. You have the days that oh wow I don't feel like it but you can do it. The best workouts are the ones you don't feel like doing because they are the ones that make you work the hardest to not give up!

I have attached the pictures what I have in my gym. I have my old jeans from when I first started to help me say ok I don't want to be that gal any longer. I have my first 5k race pic with my time in a frame. I have motivational things! I have a calendar that I write down what I did for the day. It's what ever you want to make it! I know the struggles I still have those issues when I have to hit the gym at the hotel.

You got this and I hope it helps!

It looks great. So much better than spending the money on a gym membership that you truly weren't using.
