Why I started 2/4/19

To be totally honest this is not the first time I've "started" this journey. It's not even the second or third. I've actually been struggling for several years to get on a "program" that works for me & stick to it. I've lost & gained the same 40 pounds more times than I care to admit.

This year I turned 47. I have herniated discs in my back. I have somehow developed adult onset asthma, but I am fortunate so far that my blood pressure is pretty good & my sugar levels are in check for now.

My hairdresser was talking about doing a half marathon & I'm not sure why, but that just hit me like a ton of bricks. I know with my back & at my current weight running a half marathon isn't really possible (yet), but the one I signed up for is walker friendly & I am well into my training for it. I'm very excited about the whole thing. It's on St Patty's Day & for some reason that makes me even happier LOL.

I decided to start there, to get my life in order. To be healthier overall with food, exercise & taking care of my mental wellness as well. My sons are grown & have moved out & there is no excuse to not do this now, and do it for life. I don't want to be in pain forever or uncomfortable with my appearance or postponing things because I don't feel up to it & am tired all the time. So I decided to take my life back. I've wasted enough time waiting for next Monday or the beginning of the month. I started my journey back in November. I joined Spark a couple weeks ago. I've lost a total of 13 pounds since I started, which I am ok with since I usually gain over the holidays.

It's my time. Time to take my life back.
