Frustrated but Determined!

Sunday, February 17, 2019

How did I get here? 73.8 pounds to lose. I have never been that overweight. Being so frustrated leads to being very unhappy that I can't control my choices or rather haven't controlled the choices I've made. My weight has been a center of my life for my entire life and I'm 58 years old. My mother put me on my first diet when I was 9 years old and in the 3rd grade. Since then my weight has been a roller coaster. I kept my weight under control and was actually skinny half way through college and until I was about 40. Then it just became a constant struggle with slow weight gain until now I'm 74 pounds over weight. But something happened when I saw that on the scale today. So I'm back on Sparkpeople frustrated with myself but determined to get this weight under control before I gain any more pounds. l

Several women I know - me included - were put on diets as young kids. Our weight was an issue with our parents, which made it an issue with us when we were so young. Complicated to sort all that out. Retirement is a great time to slow down and focus on the important stuff, care for ourselves, re-think what's worthy and what's not. I bet you're going to amaze yourself while reaching all your goals!

This is a safe place with others who understand. My thoughts were I am already fat so what the heck and eat even more for self punishment. Eventually health does catch up and I waited until I have to instead of doing it because I want to

Good luck! I did the same thing! So, good luck to both of us! Keep on trying.

Today is the first day. Remember to take baby steps to start so you don't burn out. You CAN do it.
