I struggle with referring to anyone as a personal hero. I feel like it's an overused term these days. John Joseph comes really close, though, even though he's got some pretty problematic viewpoints. When it comes to fitness, nutrition, and being a helpful member of one's community, though, I wish I was more like him.
He has spoken numerous times about how, when it comes to health and fitness, you have to have a "day one." There comes a time when you have put down the junk food and start exercising instead of just talking about it or making grand plans.
And so, here we are. My day one. I choose today to finally start taking control of my food and exercise. There's nothing special about today's date for me. It's just some random Tuesday. I'm not going to remember it moving forward. But I will remember that I had a day one.
