Another Month, Another Change - Can't give up!
I have been walking but haven't had time to post my stats for quite a while. I did one Lazyman Marathon in Mar 20-May31 (397 miles) and have just joined another one for Jun 21-Aug 30. I also joined in AARP's Fit & Fun Challenge to walk at least 30 minutes a day. I met the challenge admirably. Now, I'm setting my own challenge of at least 10,000 steps per day - for me, 10,000 steps is approximately 4 miles.
I'm also going to try again with the NUTRITION (diet is a four-letter word). I'm going to have 1 serving of vegetables and 1 serving of fruit at every meal. Once I get this down to a true habit, I'll tackle the proteins and grains.
05/02/2019 - Good Morning Everybody!
Did my morning walk before breakfast. Gonna call it my Morning Mile (MM). Must keep doing my new MM every day. Yesterday all my walking topped out at 4.57 miles by end of day.
Starting over! "Again". Sorry I can't post more often. I don't have a home computer and I can only post during lunch and breaks at work or stay late.
In the middle of March I joined a Lazyman Marathon at work (goal: walk at least 26.6 miles in 10 weeks, And today, I joined AARP's Fun & Fit Challenge to walk at least 30 minutes a day from May 1 thru June 30.
My 70th Year Walking Goal (Mar 1-Feb 28) - 111.5 miles as of Apr 30 (avg 55.75/month)
Lazyman Marathon (Mar 20-May 31) - 75.8 miles as of Apr 30
04/01/2019 - On March 1st I set my goal of tracking my mileage from March 1 - Feb 29 (my 70th year).
In March I walked: 55.5 miles (129488 steps) - 1,332 minutes - 22.2 hours.
That was just walking to get from place to place - no planned exercise walking. There didn't seem to be any time for planned walking because I was working overtime the entire month.
My goal for April: 100 miles
I plan to add at least 15 minutes of planned exercise walking every day. Still working overtime at least through the middle of the month, but I should be able to manage 15 minutes per day.
I'm taking my progress slow but sure. After all I'm 70 with arthritis, diabetes & Afib.
03/20/2019 - Hi everyone! The 40s are here, expecting the 50's any day.
I won't believe it's spring until the 2 in slab of ice is gone from in front of my garage door and I don't have to take my life in my hands every time I come and go.
Looking forward to gardening but have a big yard cleanup first (when I can get to the yard). Winter came up so suddenly, we didn't have time to do fall yard cleanup.
I can still see 1 frozen tomato on one of my tomato plants. The snow just covered everything up before we could close up the garden.
We never had a change to get the gazebo down - so now the canopy is all shredded and the metal supports are all twisted - need a new gazebo this year.
The picnic table is loaded down with snow and ice and shows signs of the plastic splitting - need a new picnic table this year.
The shepherd hooks we use for flowers and bird feeders are all bent and twisted - need new shepherd hooks this year.
Gonna be an expensive spring, but spring is worth it.

03/14/2019 - Working lots of overtime this month. I helps with the finances (coming up on tax day). But it doesn't seem to be helping with the diet. I'm barely holding my own - up a lb one day, down the next, and up again - a regular see-saw.
03/14/2019 - Brought 2 pies to work today for International Pi Day. Promise I'll only have a sliver of each (pumpkin and apple) and I'll make sure I track it.
03/04/2019 - Good Morning! Monday - I took my birthday weekend off. No worries. No tracking. Just doing whatever I felt like doing. I saw my doctor for my annual physical - everything on track. Did some reading. Completed a crochet project and started a new one. Family took me out for a birthday dinner - a very good turkey dinner which I turned into two turkey dinners. I did lose a couple of pounds. No birthday cake - I'm not really a cake person. My downfall is sugary candies - but I didn't have any this last weekend.
But the birthday weekend is over and it's time to get back to reality. I need to catch up with my challenges and get down to business. Today I brought from home a bottle of white peach juice, FoldIt bread and greek yogurt. I plan to get a hard boiled egg and some fresh fruit from the cafeteria at work. I'll make an egg sandwich for lunch from the egg and the FoldIt bread. Have some snow shoveling to do when I get home tonight. Working 10 hrs overtime this week and next.

02/28/2019 - Hi everyone! I turn 70 tomorrow and I've decided to keep track of how many miles I walk from Mar 1, 2019 to Feb 28, 2020. I got the idea from a fellow blogger today and thought what a way to celebrate 70.
I don't have a computer at home (yet) so I can't post everyday. But I will keep you all posted on my progress.
I think I'll also tie in my relaxation with my walking by also completing my Year I Was Born Weatherghan. I found out what the daily temperatures were in my area for my entire 1st year of life. I'm choosing a color yarn for each 10-degree range and knit or crochet a row in the proper color for every day of my 1st year. Maybe I'll do a double layer afghan and do the same for my 70th year and then join them back-to-back at the end of the year.
This should be a lot of fun. Everybody have a great day.
