Homework For Day 16

Sunday, March 03, 2019

t'm not sure I agree with the concept of the first two bites being the most satisfying. When I have something that I really have a craving for I'm satisfied with every bite. When I don't go out and get something that I really want I end up eating a bunch of stuff around the house that I didn't want in the first place.

The other day on the way home from Hy Vee my BIL gave me half of a Scotcheroo. That was about 4 bites and I was surprisingly satisfied with it. Maybe what I need to do when I get something that I really want, like a chocolate fudge brownie from Perkins, is eat half of it and save the other half for another day. I do much better exercising portion control. If I get a box of Cheez It's Grooves I divide them into portions, put them in snack size zip lock bags and put them back in the box. Otherwise, if I sit down with the whole box I start mindlessly munching and before I know it the box is empty. For me it's all about portion control. I weigh and measure everything otherwise my eyes are always bigger then my belly.

Everything in moderation. Saving half for the next day, allows you to enjoy the treat twice for the same number of calories. Another good strategy is to chew slowly and be sure that you're really enjoying the splurge. You've got this!!!
