Lent and healthy habits!
Thursday, March 07, 2019
Today is the second day of lent. I have decided to make it a time for beginning healthy habits. I have decided to not only give up something but to hopefully create some new healthier habits.
My birthday always falls during lent so I don't give up all sweets because I like to have birthday cake especially ice cream cake! This year will be no different. I am going to give up diet and regular soda, candy and try to stop night eating.
I am also going to try to create some healthy habits to replace my less healthy ones. I'm good at drinking my 8+ cups of water a day but I have a hard time with most other things. Some of the healthier habits I am going to attempt to create are:
1 - Only eat healthy snacks when I'm hungry and my next meal isn't ready!
2 - Limit my snacking to after breakfast and before dinner! No late night snacking!
3 - Exercise for at least 10 minutes every day! This one is tough for me!
4 - Sleep for a minimum of 6 hours every night!
5 - Allow myself ONE dessert for the week. Only if I really want it and stop when I'm full!
6 - Don't wait too long to eat. I do this often and then eat everything in sight!
I would also like to get my son back to the gym during this time. His knee is mostly healed. 4 hour knee surgery to repair his MCL, ACL and meniscus. He is still not allowed to completely engage in his martial arts training. That is driving him crazy! He is not allowed to kick, jump and pivot on the knee. He is still teaching classes 1-3 days a week and participating in most activities but slowly and carefully.
Here's to new healthier habits!
