My Motivation

Monday, April 01, 2019

Today, I'm tasked with writing about the underlying reasons for my wanting to lose weight. What's underneath the "I want to lose 50 pounds"?

I've thought long and hard about this and I think the answer is that I want to be able to participate wholly in life and I know I'm not doing that as long as I am overweight and spending all my time on the computer during the day. I would like to show everyone, also, that I respect my body enough to lose the weight and get fit. And I want to be a monastic....you don't see obese monastics (usually, at least!) because monastics respect their bodies and stay fit and healthy.

Is that enough reason to lose the weight? I think it is. What do you think?

A monastic is like a monk or none, but in Zen Buddhism, they don’t make the distinction between the two.

If you feel that your reasons are speaking to you, then they are good!

Respecting the body designed by God is a good one. Not sure I know what a monastic is. Define please. emoticon
