Three year status update. Age is only a number.

I finally reached my goal weight of 165 after three long years of consistently watching my caloric intake and exercise. I lost a total of 45 pounds. It was slow going but I was determined to take the weight off. As a result, I am NO LONGER on high blood pressure medication!!! I continue with my healthy eating as that is now my lifestyle.
What helped me reach this goal was a lot of determination and that I retired at the end of 2015. Retiring allowed me the time to work out longer, consistently, and rest if I needed to after a difficult or tiring workout.
I learned to swim for the first time in my life at the age of 66, a year after I retired. I am now 68 years old. I overcame my fear of the water and took the plunge. I am so happy I pushed myself to take swim classes. I work out five days a week. I incorporated swimming laps as my cardio exercise. I swim for an hour twice a week, weight train and practice Yoga twice a week, and hike 9 miles once a week. I am pleased to report that I now have biceps and back muscles!!! I did not think it was possible to develop muscles at my age.
I feel good. I feel strong. I don’t feel 68 years old. Only eating healthy and exercising consistently can do this for you. I noticed that I get my housework done faster than I used to before this lifestyle change.
It’s true. Age is only a number. It’s never to late to change and better one’s health.
