Weekends... & the 270's

Sunday, April 14, 2019

I have known for a long time that weekends and family get togethers are my downfall when it comes to seeing steady progress.

Last weekend, I didn't eat enough during the day and then feasted on chocolate and just about anything else I could put in my mouth, so while I started out Saturday morning (the first day of the Spring 5% Challenge) at 281.8 lbs, by Sunday morning I was up by a pound (I was glad it was just a pound, as I've sometimes gained much more in an overnight).

It took me three days to get that pound off and then all week to make enough progress so that yesterday I was down to 280.0 lbs. I have so wanted to see the 270's. I was really rooting for 279.8 as of Saturday morning, but alas my body and gravity just couldn't come together.

Either way, yesterday morning I felt good about the progress that I had made despite the events of the last weekend. I ate well throughout the day. I also managed to keep my sinus pain down to a dull roar. I think the change in seasons is really messing up my sinuses, which causes a lot of tooth pain too. It isn't fun. About the only thing that helps is drinking water and keeping my sinuses moist.

Sooo....I went to the party last night to enjoy myself and found that the only way I could keep my sinuses and tooth pain from getting the better of me was to suck on mints. Which turned into Hershey's mini's when my tongue was getting sore from the mints. In all I ate over my calorie count as well as took in too much sodium from the various potluck dinner items.

So instead of 280.0 lbs as of Saturday I am now 281.6 lbs. Ugh.

I am determined to get to the 270's, but I am frustrated with myself that I cannot seem to end a weekend lighter than I started it. It has been this way for months, actually more likely years. I know I need to figure this out to continue to make steady progress.

I know that I will eventually figure it out and still be able to enjoy parties and events. I just need to remind myself to be patient with my trial and error approach.

Have a wonderful Sunday!
Best wishes,
