The end of the Easter weekend challenge
Monday, April 22, 2019
I set myself a challenge to ride my bike for 12 hours, in total, over the 4 days.
Friday started well. I rode from Downham Market to Cambridge via Ely and then the NCN11, for lunch. Then back to Ely for the train to Downham. I think that I broke Phil around the 70 mile mark. Hey ho. Never mind. Soon find another. 6 hours and 70 minutes for the 73 miles or so. I had legs left and would happily have ridden home but Phil had had enough. Bless him. Out ride me? Yeah, right.
Saturday was hideous. No riding as waiting for Dynorod to sort out the upstairs flat loo waste pipe. Every time they flushed, my bathroom sink overflowed with poo. Waited all day and until gone 10pm but they didn’t come. They came Sunday at 9.30. Upstairs flushed every 15 minutes knowing that I was having to bail the sink repeatedly. I need a new hall carpet. It has someone else’s waste fluids and some solids on it. The flat stinks but I have to leave it there so the landlord can assess it in situ.
Yesterday, I got a nice little 22 miles in and another 10 miles later. 2 hours and 25 there.
Today I took Eric the CX bike out and rode 50 miles in 4 hours. On road and off on trails and bridlepaths. Which brought my weekend to 150 miles and a bit in 12 hours and a bit. Sadly my Garmin now won’t sync but I saw it on my Garmin and will sort the software tomorrow.
Currently Phil is being a twit again. I just give in. I really do. He told his son that he was ‘just looking after Toffee’ so after 1 year, 10 months, 1 week and 2 days none of his family (parents or son) know that I exist. I don’t think that life in Downham working out for me. Probably time to go. Maybe closer to my work. A 45 minute commute is boring.
Still not back to my skinny self. Don’t care. I am fit. Strong. My dog loves me.
