I was told this today at my annual doctors visit... I’m almost 50 & was told that I need to eat about the same amount of calories each day. I shouldn’t eat 200 extra on some days thinking I can eat 200 less the next & it all evens out. She said it doesn’t even out! What??? The reason... the extra 200 gets stored as fat (around my mid-section) & I would have to eat about 400 (double the amount!!) less the next day to make up for it because of how women of my age’s bodies hold on to the extra calories. Apparently our bodies hold on just in case we begin to starve & only then will it burn it. So there’s a little knowledge that I wasn’t aware of! I guess I really shouldn’t have eaten that cake on Easter (still glad I did, lol) I weighed 149 today and she said that is an ideal weight for me! I’m NOT overweight and all my labs were great! Yay!! I must be doing something right but dang is it ever hard to stay at a normal weight at this age!!

    Thanks for sharing that info. Suspect that may have something to do with why the Spark Nutrition Tracker sets a 350 calorie range.

    My RD told me the same thing when she first met me. She also would say you also can’t out exercise those extra calories lol. Reason being is we tend to over estimate what we burn in workouts and underestimate what we eat.
