Learning curve

Friday, May 10, 2019

I started sparking again due to health issues. My goal that my doctor set for me was to lose 10 percent of my body weight and start a sodium restricted diet. I was eating two giant vanholten pickles everyday which added up to over 4 grams of sodium a day by themselves. I also work at a restaurant where I get free food. The food tracker showed me the truth behind my diet. I was getting about 5 times the average recommended sodium allowance and the food I was snacking in at the restaurant really added up at the end if the day. It is very difficult to avoid unhealthy food and snacking. I fooled myself by telling myself it was only a bite here and there. My dilemma is how can I deal with the visual triggers to overeat while at work. My first idea was to take my own food and take my free manager meal home to my family. My second idea was to eat a full meal early in my shift so I am not as hungry. I need to get rid of the snacks. I got smart food popcorn but ended eating half the bag in one sitting. I generally eat well on my days off. So for the long run I think learning to deal with eating in my work environment is crucial for my long term success

I had the same issue. I work at a pizza place and was always snacking. It adds up. So I decided to eat before going in and not have anything until I get home, or if I was working a long shift I would bring a light snack to eat mid shift.
