Pawnee National Grassland

Monday, May 13, 2019

Woohoo! Riding season is upon us. Time to get those butts toughened up and the legs turn'n in their sleep.

We went riding in Pawnee National Grassland this last weekend, beautiful but windy. We only did 30 miles each day but it felt like 100. Along with the wind pounding in my ears I had a squeaky brake so it was a true test of my patience. I tried to turn my ears off and my eyes and bask in what the the wide open plains had to offer. It gave me a new appreciation for folks who live/lived out on the plains. Mother nature is right their in your face laying her gentle rays of sunshine on you one minute and the next whipping your sandwich out of your hands the next. There are not a lot of places to hide. Had a great time but glad to be back at home out of the wind.

It does feel great to get back in the saddle again for another season of bike riding. I would love to ride in the Pawnee National Grassland. I love riding in new places I have never been before. One of my goals is ride in all the major parks and trails. Glad you had a great time!! Have fun and be safe!!
