How to be full

Last night I ate just enough.
Drank little.
Learned my lesson, I did!

We dined for the last time with the "other" parents before they travel back to the UK today. We learned a lot about each other and I was humbled to see how happy SIL2's mom was that we "took good care" of her son. When the kids decide it's time to move to the UK, which is in the cards, I hope she's around to return the kindness. Having great kids makes it easy.

Their choice for dinner was a BBQ place in Hoboken. The walkway on the water offers fantastic views and we took advantage after dinner.

BBQ food and I don't do too well together. All I need is to smell the salt and I gain water weight. Up 3 pounds this morning from yesterday! I sucked down a bottle of water on the way home and drank a large glass before I went to bed. I also realized I'm not the carnivore I used to be. SIL2 ordered for the table, family style, and it was all wings, chili, ribs, pork and brisket. The wedge salad came slathered in creamy dressing. I sampled but didn't overdo. My treat was a well-made coleslaw.

Today is a cleansing day. A resting day. A day to contemplate the fullness in my life that has nothing to do with food!

Another good time -- and in a great place.
I had dinner in Hoboken (or Jersey City) on the water just recently and enjoyed the view.
(I think I was the only one there over 30... WAY over 30)

Having UK in the cards for your kids could be very exciting.
Think of the fun you could have visiting them.
    You would love it.

Sounds like a win-win for you. I eat a lot less meat now than previously, usually one veggie day , 2-3 fish/seafood and the others mainly poultry...

What an awesome pic of the two of you, I love it. Your smiles say it all, I cannot even believe that’s your husband!!! Ummmm, your wisdom is shining through here. Good on you, living and learning is what it’s all about. Having precious children outta your vicinity isn’t easy...my Momma’s heart rests easier knowing our kids are supported by some amazing people living in their zip code.

    You’re some kinda wonderful, chica...

    Great pictures!
Isn’t it wonderful to get a close-up look into another culture by spending time with others?
My son had a wonderful gf, they moved in together, then chose a wedding date for one year later...without once introducing the parents!
We took things into our own hands.
    Our kids were sure surprised.

Beautiful pictures! Every time I see pictures of your hubby I can't get over how well he looks now. I love BBQ but it is hard for me to digest. I have almost reached the pureed carrots stage of life. Easy on the old fangs and wimpy gut.

Well I still hope to have the pleasure of introducing you to some good Texas barbecue when y’all finally head out this way! We got us plenty of good side dishes too: coleslaw, Mac n’ cheese, baked beans! & some good ol Blue Bell ice cream for dessert

Although I need more salt than the average, (low blood pressure that drops) there is a limit. YIKES!!! Fun times for you though, I love the pictures. I never been there, yet..
