Jogging again! (Yippee!!)

I have been managing to get out for a jog every second day since the first week of May. I go as far as my body lets me. So far twenty to twenty five minutes seems to be my comfortable length, although I have managed 5km twice. I'm going slowly. But, that's okay. It is so good to be out jogging again.
And my foot isn't hurting.
I'm wearing extremely supportive shoes and have another podiatrist appointment tomorrow, but I think the insoles are helping give the part of my foot that needs healing the relief it needs. It is a good feeling to finish running without having a sore foot. I hadn't realised just how long it had been since not feeling the pain.
So, my goals for getting back into it are fairly simple. Aim to get out every second day, alternating between 20 - 30 minutes jogs depending on how I am feeling. By the end of the month be doing 5km for every run (I've managed 5km twice so far, but needed to have shorter runs in between them).
Once those base runs feel normal again, I'll begin to extend one run into a longer one, adding 5 minutes to my time each week (I know 10% is the recommendation, I just find adding five minutes easier than working out what 10% is each time). I'll do this until I reach 10km. Then, I'll stay there for a while (depending on how my body is feeling). Maybe I'll enter a 10km race.
When I reach that point I'll be able to judge if I should stretch my runs any longer this year. I'm now more determined than ever to run a marathon, but I have to get my base strength back.
I"m also doing a lot of yoga. At least ten minutes a day. I guess that is one really good thing that came out of my period of injury: yoga has become a much more regular part of my routine. I'm aiming to do yoga every day now, for 10 minutes.
I've been tracking a bit better, too. Perhaps this week will show a weight loss for me on the Casual Traveller's team.
