Thought and Prayer for Friday, May 17, 2019

Friday, May 17, 2019

There is a lot to be said about love. Just google the word love and all types of things come up. One thing to remember about love is that it is powerful. Love is powerful enough to drive away other negative emotions and feelings that we have. Love can even blind us to the things we don’t want to see. God’s love is perfect and real. When we seek His love, He can drive out any and all fear and worry in our lives.

1 John 4:18 “Where God’s love is, there is no fear, because God’s perfect love drives out fear.” (NCV)

1. Write how you know God loves you.
2. List ways you can experience God’s love.
3. Remember God’s love is powerful.
4. Rather than be worried or afraid, choose to focus on God’s love.

Dear Lord, we pray You will help us to focus on Your love. We know You promise that Your perfect love is powerful enough to drive out fear and worry. We pray You will help us to meditate on Your word, Your greatness, and Your promises so we move away from the worries of the world and rejoice in You and Your love. We know You have the power to remove our worries and our fear. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

We should replace our worry with God’s love. We are promised God’s perfect love drives out fear.

Micah 7:18 “Where is another God like you, who pardons the guilt of the remnant, overlooking the sins of his special people? You will not stay angry with your people forever, because you delight in showing unfailing love.” (NLT)

God loves us with an everlasting and unfailing love that will help us to be happy and not afraid or worried.

Jeremiah 31:3-4a “Long ago the Lord said to Israel: ‘I have loved you, my people, with an everlasting love. With unfailing love I have drawn you to myself. I will rebuild you, my virgin Israel. You will again be happy.’” (NLT)

When we experience the love of God in our lives we will not be afraid or worried.

Zephaniah 3:17 “For the Lord your God is living among you. He is a mighty savior. He will take delight in you with gladness. With his love, he will calm all your fears. He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.” (NLT)
