May 18, 2019 WHAT DO I SAY?
One of the biggest fears people have is having to speak in front of a group. Many of us worry about what to say in a one-on-one conversation as well. We all don’t have the gift of gab so we spend time worrying about what to say next in conversation, group setting and in front of an audience. Possibly the biggest fear is what to say to others about God. How and when do we share His word? Many people don’t share with others about God because they worry about what to say. But God tells us not to worry about what to say. He will help us.
Mark 13:11 “But when you are arrested and stand trial, don’t worry in advance about what to say. Just say what God tells you at that time, for it is not you who will be speaking, but the Holy Spirit.” (NLT)
1. Write what conversations you need to have.
2. List what things are holding you back from speaking about God.
3. Pray asking God to give you the right words.
4. Seek God’s word and trust His Holy Spirit to speak through you.
Dear Lord, we know we sometimes don’t follow Your will because we don’t know what to say. Help us to remember we need to trust in You to give us the right words at the right time. Help us to lean on Your Holy Spirit to reply to those who are against You. Help us to seek Your word to use to share with others. We want to be a godly example to others allowing You to speak through us. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
Luke 21:15 “for I will give you the right words and such wisdom that none of your opponents will be able to reply or refute you!” (NLT)
2 Samuel 23:2 ““The Spirit of the Lord speaks through me; his words are upon my tongue.” (NLT)
Luke 12:12 “for the Holy Spirit will teach you at that time what needs to be said.” (NLT)
1 Corinthians 2:13 “When we tell you these things, we do not use words that come from human wisdom. Instead, we speak words given to us by the Spirit, using the Spirit’s words to explain spiritual truths.” (NLT)
God wants to give us the wisdom we need to stay the right words at the right time. We need to ask Him and believe He will answer.
James 1:5 “If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking.” (NLT)
