"Sometimes things fall apart so that better things can fall together." Marilyn Monroe

"As far as cat ladies go, Elsie was the undisputed champion."

Jim had an awful day fishing on the lake, sitting in the blazing sun all day without catching a single one. On his way home, he stopped at the supermarket and ordered four catfish. He told the fish salesman, “Pick four large ones out and throw them at me, will you?”

“Why do you want me to throw them at you?”

“Because I want to tell my wife that I caught them.”

“Okay, but I suggest that you take the orange roughy.”

“But why?”

“Because your wife came in earlier today and said that if you came by, I should tell you to take orange roughy. She prefers that for supper tonight.”

There are 3 Museum of Bad Art in Massachesetts for "art too bad to be ignored".
--Mother Whistler Day: you'd think this was about the famous painting, Arrangement in Grey and Black No. 1, by James Abbott McNeill Whistler, of his mother who sat in when the model didn't show; today is about whistling, the piercing sound (or not) we make with our lips; so pucker up and blow or, for nostalgia's sake, watch the scene in the Sound of Music when the Captain tries to teach Maria how to call the children with the boat whistle.
--I Love Reece's Day: today was started by an online petition (at they're honest about it); in 1917, H.B. Reece worked on a Hershey dairy farm, in a candy factory by 1920, and then opened H.B. Reece Candy Company in 1923; the peanut butter cups were introduced in 1928.
--Visit Your Relatives Day: a day to reach out to your relatives and have a reunion or, at least, a phone call.

--River Cleanup Day: an annual call-to-action day to clean up our river systems.
--International Learn to Swim Day: a timely reminder before the summer months; today is about the importance of knowing how to swim and how to stay safe in water.
--World Whisky Day: a salute to a favorite beverage.
--Send an Electronic Greeting Card Day: like them or not, ecards are becoming more and more a facet of our lives.
--In 1980, Mount St. Helen in the state of Washington erupted, killing 57 people and sending ash everywhere. I was working for the telephone company in Seattle that day and let's just say it was rather surreal.
