I am definitely an inspirational quote type person. For the most part they work to make me want to do better and be better. They also make me think and ponder them, some more than others. I came across one here on SP that caught my eye recently. I liked the quote, still do in fact but not necessarily in the context the quote was meant.
The quote was: "Don't fear failure. Fear being in the exact same place next year as you are today."
It truly is a great quote. And true. Failure is never truly failure unless you completely give up on your goal. Failure makes us more resilient, more capable and stronger unless we allow failure to defeat us. Then failure has won. Failure is truly failure when we stop trying.
The second part of the quote is what truly made me stop and ponder it. What if I am in the exact same place next year as I am today? Would that be so bad? As long as I haven't gone backwards as in set my goals to the side and abandoned them, I don't think it is as bad as it sounds. Because for me, if I am in the exact same spot next year as today, it means that I've successfully kept off around 40 pounds and 20+ inches. It means I am still married to the love of my life. It means I have continued working at job that overall I love. It means I have maintained the fitness level I am currently at in the gym.
For me, all of these are positives. Find your positives!
Keep on sparking my friends!
