Kidney disease and keto diet.

Monday, May 20, 2019

I have been following the keto diet since Nov 24, 2018. I am down 30 lbs and now beginning to struggle a bit. All of my blood work has been good. But now I am experiencing some GERD issues and not sure why, gas bloat, and some health issues. My kidney function is down and scans found another lesion on my right kidney that is possibly another Clear cell papillary renal cell carcinoma. Therefore, in light of everything resent health wise, I need to change my diet to a kidney friendly one. Keto is not a kidney friendly diet. Everything I was eating, I should not have been.☹️ If anyone has information to help me make this lifestyle change, please respond. Thank you ahead of time for taking the time to read my blog and helping if you can. Blessings to you.

I have shied away from Keto for that reason. My mom had renal cell cancer. I do a mediterranean style diet. I do keep my protein a tiny bit high because I am almost 70, older people don't absorb protein as well...something about stomach enzymes that decrease as we age. I also throw in a day or sometimes 2 of meatless days, eating proteins from beans and soy. I also eat a lot of fresh fruit and raw vegetables. I love to experiment with my foods
