Another Academic Year Flew BY

Monday, May 20, 2019

Saturday I did the commencement for my school. Wow, this is an enormous event and I am the one in charge. Such a mixed blessing! It is fun to be the boss for a day, but then, balance that against all the detail work that goes into making the day happen. Whoa, whatta job for an executive assistant! Some faculty are surly about working on a Saturday so they don't enjoy the celebratory atmosphere, but I love it, especially the happy families, the huge buffet afterward, and the sense that I and everyone else did a good job. Starting in October and working on it right up to the very morning in May, it is a responsibility that I have come to relish.

Yay! I lost that little bit of weight! Now I am 239.2. How is it that just a pound or two has such significance? I feel like I lost the anxiety that gaining had caused as well as the poundage. I can now dive back into trying hard again with the confidence that I can do this. It's typical of me to have keep getting myself pumped up over and over again. My confidence in my ability to succeed at this wavers daily.

I did not overeat at the buffet Saturday and did not go over my allotted calories all weekend. Today I am having yogurt for breakfast, yuck, but I am trying to shave away at the hidden fats I eat. Like I love peanut butter crackers for breakfast but they have twice the calories and probably less protein than the yogurt. It will be a struggle but I can get used to it to try it for a week.

Here it is Monday, a summer-like day at last. It will be a lazy day here with cleaning up the last details of the commencement event. People will be stopping by all day to say I did a great job, as they have for the last 18 graduations. I love the praise and eat it right up - praise is calorie-free! Looking at a nice day here, folks!
