Day 140: The Juggle of Life

Monday, May 20, 2019

Lordy, I have fallen off the wagon re: daily blogging!

Life has been pretty busy, but I am keeping up the exercise and TRYING to eat better, though only with some success.

Lot of emotional stress...my dad is doing better, but he's not really "bouncing back" like he always has before and my brother and I are wondering how much longer he has. If he's going to remain stuck in a wheelchair (he's too weak to walk much yet), we think he'll start giving up because he won't want to live that way. And frankly, we don't want him living that way either. Hoping he'll get better, but at 86 he may just not have enough left at this point to bounce back, I don't know.

The good news is, my brother did get to spend some time with him - he flew down from Seattle on Friday and we all had dinner together. Then he drove up to Chico on Saturday for my nephew's college graduation, spent the night, then came back and had brunch with my dad yesterday before he headed back home. He was really shocked at how my dad looked, which really made me realize why I've been so strung out because my dad looks a heck of a lot better now than he did a couple weeks ago.

Trying to focus on the good stuff. I'm enjoying working normal hours (more or less) for a couple weeks before the next busy time hits. Next Wed is Jamie's birthday (15!) and we'll do his party this weekend. He is VERY excited...I guess some things, you don't outgrow!

We're going to do another concert for his bday (we did a K-pop concert in LA for his xmas present, a group called Red Velvet). He wanted to go see a group called GOT7 in LA in July, so we finally agreed, but then when Paul went online to buy tix he noticed they're doing a show in Oakland the following week! WAY closer to us. So we'll do that instead, gets us out of another long drive to Southern California.

Had a busy weekend but yesterday afternoon was really fun, a girlfriend and I went to a 4pm show of Steel Magnolias! They were showing it in theaters for the 30th anniversary. (Dang, that makes me feel old.) Even though I've seen it a bunch of times, I still cried buckets of course. Love that movie!!!

All right, better get back to work. Hope everyone is having a good Monday.
