My Commitment is still strong!

A group of us Sparkies joined Sparkpeople around the same time quite a few years ago, and we have always repeated that we will NEVER give up.
I have to admit that it is harder to lose a few party pounds nowadays than it used to be. Don't let anyone convince you otherwise--the metabolism (at least a woman's) DOES slow down with age. It's just not impressed with a few miles walked and a few calories less like it used to be. And then if you don't eat enough, it stupidly thinks you're trying to kill your body, and it slows down even further.
But since I'm committed to living as long as I can with whatever help I can add to the situation, I will just keep trying this and trying that until my metabolism finally recognizes that it's got to perk up because I'm going to keep poking at it until it does.
Currently I'm doing intermittent fasting -- eating 2 meals during an 8-hour period and not eating (but drinking LOADS of green tea) during a 12-hour period, most of which is when I'm sleeping. If I feel hungry during that time, I do something to take my mind off the hunger or drink some tea and tell myself "My body is really burning fat now; I don't want to disrupt it." If I see I really am HUNGRY, i will have some nuts with my tea. It works. But not well enough. My weight regularly does the cha-cha on the scale--2 up, 2 back. Sigh.... I've recently increased my exercise... and slowly I'm seeing results.
I've had to concede that what worked before to get me to my goal weight, and kept me in Maintenance for years, just isn't working anymore. I will find a new system that works for me now at this stage of life and I will win this tug of war with my metabolism.
I'm committed and I'm determined!
