Goals & Gratitude 5/20/19

I took my Dad to the doctor today. He is doing much better. His walking is stabler and he's able to get out of chairs easier. It's still difficult for him, but he's better. He's not even using his walker. His doctor spent about a half hour with us asking questions and examining him. His blood test results came back mostly fine except that he is anemic and his cholesterol is slightly elevated. She wants him to drink Ensure to get more calories (he doesn't eat much anymore) and vitamins. So we went and bought him some Ensure and some Carnation Instant Breakfast after the doctor's. The doctor also said that he has quite a bit of arthritis in his lower back, though he has no pain. She's still concerned that he may have Parkinson's, so she wants him to see a neurologist. Unfortunately, he may not agree to do that. I would like to know if he has early Parkinson's, but he's very stubborn. The doctor also wanted him to see a rhumatologist, but he shot down that idea. He's going back to this doctor in a month, and he may be well enough to go by himself. I hope he is because that's progress. But I told him if he wants me to go with him, I will. Well, I guess we'll see. If he keeps improving, that's the most important thing.
Tomorrow night I'm hosting a birthday dinner for a friend. I'm going to have two people over, so the main thing I need to do tomorrow is clean clean clean. This place is a mess! I need to sweep, vacuum, and mop mostly, and then straighten and put things away. I also need to figure out what I'm going to cook and go to the market. I would like to get a walk in, but I don't think I'll have time, so I'm going to try to make the cleaning count for exercise.
I'm ahead on my homework, but I have a lot of reading to do tomorrow. I have a research paper to write, and I have three and a half scholarly articles to read for it. I don't know if I'll get it all done tomorrow, but that's my goal. Even if I get two done, that will be progress. Two of the articles are about 40 pages in length and two are about 80 pages in length, so it's not a short process!
I think I wrote my goals are here. :-)
Today I'm Grateful For...
1) That Dad is doing better.
2) That his doctor is thorough.
3) That I made good time getting home today.
