Shoulder Update

Tuesday, May 21, 2019

X-ray showed no major abnormality, no breaks/no tumors, just a little arthritis. Doc said Friday that it is not bursitis which is what the chiropractor thought. Based on what doc said Friday I must have multiple strained tendons, but I'll see what doc has to say in 10 days.

At this point, I can run without pain. But I can't get a sports bra on and off without significant pain. I ordered some front-closing sports bras, but they are grossly inadequate -- way too much bouncing, very uncomfortable. I only ran 1.25 miles this morning because I felt major chafing. Hoping I can find another solution to this issue. I just can't keep stressing my shoulder with sport bras.

Incidentally, I was down a pound or so this morning. Still 1.6 pounds over goal weight range, but I ate smart yesterday and are off to a good start for today!!

What about tape? A bit of compression, might keep things in place, no? if you do use tape place it on a towel first to pick up some lint, makes for easier removal.

Good to hear your shoulder is feeling better. Sports bras are not the easiest to get in and out of. I've been considering a front zip style. A good comfortable bra is worth paying a little extra for.

Well, glad at least that the shoulder doesn't hurt when running. Hope you find a sports bra you can manage comfortably.

Sounds like the docs are narrowing down the issue with the shoulder. Glad the shoulder is not painful while running. Good luck finding a sports bra with enough support that can also be managed by the shoulder.

Hopefully with patience and continuing to seek you will find the solution to the problem with your shoulder, the correct diagnosis and the recovery plan. Getting older isn't fun, but with your attitude of wholesome living for fitness and health, you are looking to get better, not settling that this is the way it is. Sharing your journey is helpful to the rest of us, and someone in our number may have a parallel experience and solution to share. I have had conditions that were not easily diagnosed, but with continuing to look for the answer from a variety of sources, have found solutions. Wishing you the best of all possible worlds

You at least have information about what is going on. Knowledge is power. I wear front closure. I have discovered if I look for a t-back, front closure bra, it takes the strain off the shoulder plus it can give you some support. Just worth a mention. I hope your should feels better soon.

So very sorry to hear this about your shoulder. That is a real issue not being able to have proper support while running. I once bought a very expensive bra that gave me absolutely no bounce but also no weight on the shoulders. It wasn't underwired. It has a cradle sort of design that was so comfortable. After years of bra straps digging into my shoulders this was a welcome relief. I can't wear a bra now my shoulders have deteriorated so much from the arthritis, but this bra might have been a possibility. So I can't do any high impact activity. They advertise under the banner the bra lady and its a French design and name. Maybe you will have to look online for something.

I have a torn muscle in my upper arm, really limits what I can do without pain. I found if I put that arm in the sports bra first then my head and finally my other arm, I can get it on. A bit of a houdini routine. Might work for you too.
