...with just a smidge of hyperbole. ;-) I survived Book Club. It's usually my undoing. My friends are amazing cooks. I was the first to arrive since it was at my next door neighbor's and I'm the organizer. She already told me she smoked a brisket and made rosemary potatoes so I knew I'd be fine. She usually makes potato salad w/brisket but after learning of my whole30 quest on one of our walks, she opted for roasted potatoes instead. How awesome is she?
Anywho, she had chips and dip out already and out of shear habit, I almost grabbed one. I caught myself. This kind of scenario has been playing over and over again in my dreams lately...accidentally eating something out of habit. Left having to start over.
All is well though. It really always is.
In exercise: It's been a rough few days. I've had lower back problems for a couple of years now. Usually only brought on by standing too long or walking a long ways on flat land. Hiking 5 miles? No problem. Walking on flat terrain for 2? I have to crawl home. Well the last 3 days, I've woken up with that pain and can barely take the dogs down the driveway. It dissipates by late morning. This morning was better though. I woke up twinging but did some spinal twists, child's pose, and puppy pose before getting out of bed and I faired much better. I was able to walk both dogs (separately) and walk with friends for a couple of miles, all adding up to 9300 steps already. And I didn't have to take advil this morning. So yay. I also managed a Yin class Saturday morning. Other than that, it's been a slow go.
In food: I'm getting a little bored. I've never cooked so much in my life. But really, it's not the cooking, it's the decisions. To me, the deciding is overwhelming. Sometimes I just want to boil some pasta or toast some bread...the easy way out. I'm still managing some spectacularly easy, yummy meals but not every meal is so stellar. This morning I had a boiled egg and blueberries.
Weekend meal highlight
Sundried tomato lemon chicken served over a bed of zoodles. So good.
Did I mention this is Day 21 of whole30? Wow. I'm starting to prep for the next phase. I borrowed the ebook from the library and have referenced it a bunch the last couple of weeks. But it's time to get my kindle back online so I can download my next library book though which means I'm about to lose the Whole30 book. I broke down last night and went to the used book store and got my own copy. :)
