May Summary: From Blah to Rah?

May 3, 2019 Plan revision:

I will acknowledge some facts that will not change in my lifestyle:
- Travel will interfere with my exercise routine.
- I will always enjoy food and drink that isn't on the "plan."
- Whenever I try to "lighten up" the intensity and increase my minutes, I gain weight.

Therefore, for the remainder of the spring 2019 challenge, I will focus on INTENSITY.
1. I will do three sessions of 4X4 HIIT weekly.
2. I will allow appropriate recovery between sessions.
3. I will work toward 2 strength training sessions weekly.
4. All the rest will be "gravy" or as my French friend says, "It's good with the sauce."

I'm starting my May summary early as incentive to see some successes and keep the momentum going.

Week 1:
Jogging/running mileage: 14.53 mi. emoticon

Strength training: emoticon
Cross training: emoticon
Long Run: 6.35 mi.

Week 2:
Jogging/running mileage: 10.39 mi. goal of 12 not met

Cross training: emoticon
Long run: emoticon

Week 3:
Jogging/running mileage: 15.0 emoticon
Three sessions of 4X4 HIIT: emoticon emoticon emoticon
Strength training: emoticon
Cross training: rowing machine
Long run: emoticon

Week 4:
Jogging/running mileage: 12.84 mi. emoticon
Three sessions of 4X4 HIIT: emoticon emoticon emoticon
Strength training: emoticon
Cross training: rowing machine
Long run: steady state emoticon 4.42 mi. emoticon

Week 5:
Jogging/running mileage: 10.48 mi.

I haven't lost the travel-related weight gain, but I'm feeling good about increasing my speed/intensity on the treadmill. I'm trying to remember to "spend it all." I'm running my intervals 0.2 mph faster than last month.

I'm hoping this earlier summary can help me deflect the Memorial Day food & drink binges.
