Oh what a fantastical day! Monday morning after spending two glorious weekend days outside with that big yellow thing under that even bigger blue thing, my allergies destroyed me and I was in no shape to kickbox at 545am... luckily though I felt good after work and ran two miles.. #nevermissamonday.
I've added the 545pm kickboxing class to my routine but due to concert tickets to see Pink yesterday that was not going to work, so I went to the 7am class instead and that did not disappoint. Jackie is intense! I was even able to stop at shoprite on the way home grab a few essentials and be at my desk working, feeling completely invigorated,a little stinky, and ready to face the day on time.. my shower would come at lunch time, thank goodness we do not do teleconferencing LOL. For breakfast I had a 96% lean ground beef burger topped with 1 tbsp cheddar cheese and an egg with an orange on the side. Lunch was a salad with chicken, strawberries, blue cheese, poppy seeds and fresh mint with evoo and balsamic vinegar and dinner was 8 oz fat free yogurt, with sugar free chocolate jello mix, slivered almonds and cherries.. Drank a lot of water.. trying to get back into the habit because I have been falling short there recently.
Been a challenging few days at work for reasons I will not get into and that were completely out of my control.. which makes me nuts. Needless to say the stress level has been high.. But I made it through the day and then headed into NYC with my sister to see Pink in concert.
Oh my wow, what a freaking awesome show. I LOVE her. Pink is hard cord, straight forward open and raw in her words and her lyrics. She is so talented. She is tough, kind, smart, strong and vulnerable all wrapped up in one.
Her show is so uplifting and powerful and fun and filled with energy! She is definitely a force to be reckoned with and her message is loud and clear I mean she has a song called Perfect where the lyrics to the refrain go like this:
Pretty, pretty please, don't you ever ever feel
Like you're less than f&*(n' perfect
Pretty pretty please, if you ever, ever feel like you're nothing
You're f&*(n'' perfect to me!
During the show there is a segment of a recording where she tells a story that her 6, yes that's right, six year old daughter turns to her in the car and tells her how she is the ugliest girl in school. She is different than everyone else how she looks like a boy with long hair..
Well of course Pink was taken aback and devastated by these words but took her time and asked some questions calmly and worked to change the dialogue.. then she put together a power point presentation for her daughter made up of all these successful people who "didn't fit the mold" that society had sculpted to really drive home the point that we are all beautiful and worthy of love and special and capable of amazing things.
Did I tell you how much I LOVE Pink? Not just for her music abilities and her mad aerial skills (at the same freaking time no less), but because she refuses to let others dictate who she is, that she works hard to love herself and be someone who spread light and joy rather than someone who feeds into the nonsense of other misinformed individuals.
Yesterday I talked about how our words matter and as a follow up to that, I want to add so do our actions. If we speak one way but act another, we are not being true to ourselves. We must not only talk the talk, but we must walk the walk in everything that we set out to do.
Due to the late hour, I had to forgo kickboxing again this morning.. 4 hours of sleep was not enough to be alert at my desk for my busy day so I will hop on the treadmill and bang out 2 miles again at lunch time.. I'd kickbox tonight BUT I got a last minute invite to go to see Pink tonight AGAIN and you bet your sweet bippy I am not passing that up!
Last nights seats were way up top, I am quite sure tonight's seats will be much closer to the action.
Have a wonderful Wednesday. Choose your words wisely, live the life that you are supposed to, most importantly, do it with class and sass all rolled up into one!
