Wednesday Weigh-in

Wednesday, May 22, 2019

I have a digital scale. It's a Conair. It looks exactly like the WW scale, except that it's gold, I believe I bought it at Target, and just like that scale all it does is record your weight. I bought it in gold because it matched by bathroom decor-except there is no room for it there and it's stored on carpet under my microwave cart. In previous blogs, I have related how frustrating it is to use a scale at home for several reasons. For one thing, i don't have a level floor in my apartment. I have opted for a particular space in the kitchen. It seems when I weigh in there it is pretty close to any weight I check-in with when i have a doctor's appointment.

I don't like using a scale in my home at all. When I had lost somewhere between 45-50 lbs I was not using a home scale. I was going by clothing fit and the infrequent doctor's visit. I had a consistent eating pattern and exercise routine. I bought the scale because I joined a maintenance group at SP that encouraged frequent weigh-ins and also because I had joined Weight Watchers (have since left that "program"). I had gained weight back because of a health set back. That was over a year ago now. Various life changes have made my former routine difficult, I thought WW would help me.

It did not. I am trying to change things and shake things up so I can lose weight again. i guess I am rambling on like this because I am disappointed. I apparently have gained a pound! This seems innocuous, but it isn't! I have gained back something like 21 lbs and it seems to be creeping up 1-3 lbs at a time.

I am both not surprised that I've gained weight, even if it's only a pound, and not happy about it either. Oh it's not quite a pound, it's 0.8 of a pound! emoticon

I weigh every day to keep myself from getting too far from my maintenance weight. I realize that when we eat out I will go up but I don't get excited about it because you really have to take a lot into consideration.
Like how much you ate, what time, and what you ate and drank, etc.
Then you just adjust your meals, drink water and move a bit more or take a nice walk.
I love my ice cream and junk foods so I know that is my foe right there.
I hope you get the results you want. emoticon emoticon

Are we not eating enough? Are we eating to
    much?Are we watching sugar,salt intake
etc....can be so frustrating to figure out.
Sometimes things we did in the past will
not work now.Like starting all over again.
    emoticon wishing you the best!

I'm so bummed that waiting 'till Wednesday wasn't the right thing (or was it? We'll never know what could have been).

I know you had some big challenges lately and the refrigerator stuff couldn't have been easy. Clean slate, try again? Me too. Hugs.

PS: I lost a bunch of weight with WW but have many reasons that I'm opposed to it. I'm glad you and I are here. :)

Sorry this has been happening. I'm going through same thing. It's discouraging. I guess what to do is track carefully and make sure to get exercise. Hugs! You can do this!!

Those setbacks are a constant reminder that we can't lose focus and have to keep going. You can do this.

    It's frustrating, I know.

All you can do is keep eating in range, and exercising to burn more calories than you take in. And water - lots of water.

(I tend to either gain a little or maintain in cold weather, and I lose more in summer. I swear my body is built for hibernation!!!)

WW worked when it first came out for me in the 70's. You had to be a fanatic but you did lose. Now we know that learning how to eat without a supervisor or "leader" is better and longer lasting. You can lose the weight and you are stronger than WW led us to think. Keep trying and keep your chin up

I didn't lose weight with Weight Watchers, maybe a pound in 6 months. I found it too restrictive and too difficult to buy the recommended foods. I lost the weight I lost originally just using Spark People.

I don't like it when I gain weight either - even a little. It's too hard for me to lose weight and too easy for me to gain. Constant struggle. I hope we both can conquer this challenge.

I too have lost weight with WW and then gained it back when I went back to the WW system. I too have gained 20 pounds in the last year weighing myself weekly. I am SO frustrated!! I decided to go to the doctor and have an appointment next Wednesday to see what is going on with me. I am hoping that it is something like hormone or thyroid that we can get fixed. All I know is that I don't know of anyone whom works out this much and gains this much.

I hope you can get it off and manage to keep it off. It is really hard to do. Good Luck

That's how it has been happening to me, 1-3 pounds at a time over the last six months. I lose some weight and then I gain. Ugh! Let's get on track!
