I need to drink more water!

Wednesday, May 22, 2019

I think that I'm chronically dehydrated. Sometimes, I wake up in the middle of the night with my heart pounding (that's one symptom of dehydration) and it's really unsettling. Mostly, I am drinking coffee, tea, and some water throughout the day. Plus on weekends I'll have alcohol. I know I need to challenge myself on drinking more water, and some people drink a whole gallon per day. Maybe I need to try this out?

Here is how it breaks down: "Eight ounces is a cup. Sixteen ounces is a pint. Two pints makes a quart which is your 32 ounces. There are four quarts to a gallon (128 ounces) so there are four (4) thirty two (32) ounce quarts in a gallon." Plus, I also read that roughly 2 liters is a half gallon, so that means if you drink a gallon of water per day, it's equal to 4 liters? (I looked it up- it's 3.77 liters to a gallon)

I am inspired to try going for drinking at least 3 quarts of water a day, consistently, and really push for a gallon/day.

Has anyone else experimented with this, and did you see good results?

I read an article this morning that prompted my Blog entry:

Yes, I agree with you both!
I figure a whole gallon per day is a bit much, but maybe 3 quarts/day as a goal might be okay.
And also: I have been feeling some muscle cramps lately which usually means that I'm not getting enough electrolytes so I should try that powerade zero. Although, does it have artificial sweeteners? I heard that if you drink a little pickle juice that solves the problem as well.
Oh and another thing: I do have my annual physical coming up, so I will mention all this to my doctor. :)

Really important - our PA recommends adding powerade zero into the mix.
    Electrolytes, B vitamins and potassium.

A racing heart rate could be symptom of other problems. You should get it checked with your doctor. A gallon of water daily is a LOT of water! Maybe too much. Too much of a good thing is rarely good. Another thing to as your doctor.
