Another day in paradise!

Friday, May 24, 2019

Didn't sleep very well last night. Not sure why...the full moon is over! LOL!! I think it's because I was needing to get up early to exercise so I'd have time to shower before everyone came to the house. Very restless night. Surprisingly enough, I didn't get a nap in today!

It rained most of the day. As steady as it came down, we only got about a quarter of an inch they said. I think we got more here. There were puddles out back everywhere!

The neighbor was trying to get some stuff done with the garden before it rained. He didn't have much time. We dodged a bullet tonight. There was a small, intense storm cell that swept by here just to the east of us...the weather radio went off twice and we got an emergency phone call as well. Thankfully, no hail!!

Got a little short with Dad today. I find it very interesting that he can remember, and is almost OCD, about getting the TV channel changed for the news at 530p, but he cannot seem to remember to use his walker all the way to his chair either in the kitchen or living room. He likes to put it away and then stagger to sit down. smh It's a definite safety hazard and something that we've been over time and time again!

This morning I couldn't tell if he was just being a butt or if he truly didn't know what to do. Personally, I believe it was the former! I redirected him about using the walker until he got to his chair and told him we'd move it out of the way once he was seated. What does he do but places it even farther away than he even usually does. I'm like use your walker till you get to the chair, Dad...so what does he do next? He starts trying to walk backwards towards his chair with it. I simply walked away. He can be such an ass! Then later on he pulls similar crap when coming into the living room...trying to leave it far away from his chair and stagger to sit down. I told him I was done playing games...it was a safety issue...and reiterated if he can remember the shows he wants to watch and what time they are on, he can use his walker properly! Surprisingly enough he was able to do it the rest of the day with ease! Imagine that! I hate his game playing...but it's par for the course...I should be used to it.

Tomorrow is another day...and the sun is supposed to shine which will be wonderful!!

It is raining way too much here. Almost very day.

Seniors can definitely be a pain. It's really sad to know that he risking injury to do what? Assert his independence? I feel for you. I have been in your shoes. Hugs.
