The Lovely and Busy Month of May!

May is a mixed bag of blessings, for sure! So much going on in the garden - So much going on in my house!
First, what's new in the garden. The cabbages have been harvested and canned, the sauerkraut harvested and canned, and the green beans are just about done. I'm still picking a few, but not enough to can anymore. Time to concentrate on the cantaloupes, sunflowers, peppers and tomatoes.
I'm starting to see a slight blush on the tomatoes - It won't be long before I'll be be picking and canning.
Earlier in the week I made and canned Dixie Relish and pickled the smallest of my onion harvest. We're enjoying fresh onions now, but they don't store for very long. They will soon be a big dehydrating project.
Yesterday, I used my loaf-style soap molds for the first time. I made coconut oil soap scented with orange, bergamot and ylang-ylang - The entire house smells amazing! Now comes the hardest part - Waiting four to six weeks for the soap to cure!
I have a large and a small mold - The soap makes really pretty bars when cut.
Next month should be busy, too. Tomato canning, and the elderberries should be getting ripe. I plan to harvest as many of them as I possibly can this year.
Other than that, I'm still looking for just the right place to buy and move to. At my age, I sure don't look forward to packing up and moving, but the benefits should greatly out-weigh the inconvenience once I'm done. I'll keep you posted!
