Back to the White Pants

Back to the white pants…..

OH HECK!

I missed something important. My use of the pants as a measure of progress is flawed due to not reading that tiny label correctly. Another DUH in my life.

The pants I was so dying to get into are size 22, not size 20. When I tried them on the first time a couple of months ago, they were skin tight 22's. Today I tried them on and YIKES, they fit -- if you like semi-loose white jeans. You almost have to have an abacus to figure this out, lol, but it really shows that I have lost weight. The size 20 would be a great fit now, probably a bit loose even.

The 22’s will get plenty of wear anyway even though they are too big. I will fire up the sewing machine and tailor them, then tailor them again when I hit size 18. Then I get to buy new pants all over again. You can’t really take pants down more than two sizes….such a problem I would love to always have!

Today I am wearing the now infamous large white pants with a black tunic, a long one with small gathers in the front. It is long enough to arrange over my apron, the dreaded drooping belly. Sandals have finally gotten out of the closet and I am wearing one of my 26 pairs. This woman likes her sandals.

It is warm out, in the 60’s (like me), but still rainy. Connecticut in springtime often has a jungle feel with high humidity and surprisingly long rainy spells. Sigh. We used to have four distinct seasons but lately they are merging into two - the suddenly nuclear hot and the not-that-cold. It creeps up on you that you are sweating with the heat. Then about when have all your capri’s out, it begins to get cold and then it is snowing for like one day. You find yourself shoveling a two-foot snow drift, bundled up and sweating, this time from the wooly layers instead of the humidity. And then it is spring and the tulips are floppy with the rain.

Honestly, I think all I need is one pair each of black and white long pants, and another set in capri length. And one pair of snow boots and one of sandals. But where would the fun be in that? I love all my clothes and shoes, including all 26 pairs of sandals and my current too-big white pants.

So yeah, it’s all good in the clothing universe today. And the weather universe is pretty good, too.
