Met my new doctor
Monday, June 10, 2019
Today was my first visit with the new doctor at the clinic I go to for medical care. The doctor I had been seeing since Feb. evidently left the clinic. Back in Feb I went in because I was not feeling good. My vitamin D was really low. That dr also decided that my slightly elevated blood pressure warranted medicine. I disagreed but I took the medicine for 3 months. The blood work they did late Feb also showed my thyroid was a bit off, so I was on something for that as well. I use this clinic because it's income based and I have no insurance right now. The doctors have prescribed medicines with the option of generic to save some money.
Today, the new doctor tells me she is changing my thyroid medicine to a name brand with no option for a generic. I still need to see how much it will cost. She is also allowing me to come off the blood pressure medicine as long as I check it a few time a day and record it for a week. She had more blood drawn to check my thyroid, vitamin D, and my A1c. She alerted me to the fact my A1c was elevated the last time blood was tested. She said it wasn't high enough to warrant medicine, but needs monitoring. This is not what my previous doctor told me. I was told everything was good. The doctor today was also reluctant to admit that all the work I have done ((exercise, healthier eating, more water, and better sleep)) have as much to do with my weight loss as the thyroid medicine. She recommended I join WW for $20 a month. This is when I introduced her to SparkPeople. She plans to look at it more later, but for now is not pressuring me to do WW. My weight at the last office visit was 348.6 today was 330.2 ((my scale at home was 327.1)). I'm saying my clothing and shoes made the difference. So, meeting the new doctor was both good and not so good.
