On day one of starting Sparkpeople for the umpteenth time, I "vowed" to myself that it was time to give up sugar. Of course, my inner voice immediately replied, "Sure, I've heard this before!"
The difference, this time -- I realized that eating sugary snacks only led to MORE sugary snacks. YES, it's called addiction. If I ran out of snacks, I would substitute with toast, butter and honey! I told myself that honey was good for me. And, by the way, it's local honey which is good for my allergies!!!!!! This "snack" also led to more!!!! So.... I threw out every package that contained sugar. My addicted mind told me I'm throwing money right out the window, but I wanted to get healthy more than I wanted sweets!
It's been a couple of weeks now and I haven't touched a morsel of sugar. Yes, my coffee tasted yucky on the first day, but I drank it anyway. I dress my oatmeal with a chopped up pear and cinnamon.
I'm writing about this today because I just found myself eating my oatmeal and I found myself saying, "YUMMMMMMM!" Really, was that me????? Yes it was!
