Self Talk on Long Term Goals

So I’ve been on this journey before
Went from 203 - 140. As you can see I’m back starting at 184. So what went wrong I ask. Did some sole searching and came up with some ideas. First time I made unrealistic goals I hit the gym and hard to the point it wasn’t realistic that I can carry this in for life. I also cut too much out of my diet. This time I’m aiming to do this with long term realistic goals in mind that I can maintain for life.
I started going to the gym before work for a half an hr doing my weight machines this I can functionally maintain for life. I also give myself a day or two for rest days. I’ve started riding a bike and walking and I love it. Used to do all my walking on a tread mill for an hr the real thing I must say is way better and something I can also maintain.
Food well last time I cut everything out and ate salads and veg with protein. This time I’ve learned you can’t live on veg alone and have to eat your normal foods just portion control. I don’t feel like I’m depriving myself and I leave room for a treat once a week 😊
So far I’m down 8 lb in two weeks. This I know will level out to 1-2 lb per week as I get going and that’s ok slowly and surly wins the race. And this time maintaining should be doable as I’ve been more realistic with myself.
