Day 1; I'm Not Dead Yet
Saturday, July 20, 2019
I'm not good at diets and regular exercise. I used to be. I love exercising, don't get me wrong; I always feel great after. It's the having to expend my already minimal energy to do them- and the risk that the person I love most will see me struggle. It's easier to turn on an episode of True Blood and do nothing than to get up. So I usually just do nothing because I'm so exhausted. (For reference, I build industrial fiberglass filters for a living in a building with absolutely no climate control, so it's nearly 20° hotter inside than outside. Heat exhaustion is real, folks.)
But I just can't do it anymore. I weigh way too much and I'm not comfortable in my own body anymore. I can't even do a single pushup without doing them on my knees, and even then, my belly touches the floor... It's horribly embarrassing to admit, but it's the truth. So I started looking for apps to help me out. I downloaded 3 and started using them asap, in conjunction with this one and Google Fit, since I don't have a Fitbit at current.
Future Weight takes your current weight, goal weight, goal time frame, and desired weight loss rate and tells if it's it's even safe and what it takes to accomplish that goal. I have a goal weight loss of 120 lbs in about 14 months. It's doable, with just a 500 calorie daily deficit and 100 minutes a week of exercise. Yoga by 7M provides several different free yoga routines, including beginner, intermediate, and advanced routines. 30 Day Challenge has daily routines for whatever you're looking to work; arms, butt, thighs, abs, or full body.
So, I got up a little after 7 am, ate a protein bar, then waited 45 minutes before I took my yoga mat outside. Thankfully, my fiancé had fallen back to sleep, so he didn't see me jiggle at all. I did one of the 7M beginner routines, just 10 minutes long. I also picked a full body workout and went at it! Y'all, a 25 second plank just about killed me. And doing just 10 crunches didn't go so well, either, but as the title of this blog post implies, I didn't die at least!
