Staying at my calorie goal and exercising

I didn't eat within my calories last week. I would sneak a little food here and there when I would go through the kitchen. Even though I was exercising on my elliptical the food I was eating was adding up in calories. I would overeat on walnuts, peanut butter, and potato chips. If I eat 1300 and some calories I lose weight but if I eat 1400 calories or more I gain weight. I should have weighed the other foods that I was sneaking and eating. It was so depressing to be up two pounds and something this past week. I was sneak eating yesterday too. I am hoping that I can get back to eating the right amount of food and doing my exercise like I always do. My elliptical has a huge dread factor but it is the only thing that helps me to lose weight. I have a lot of exercise dvds here at the house but I haven't been able to lose weight when I exercised to them. I am thinking about doing one of them after I do the elliptical. I bought some Cathe' Friedrich's dvds at the Goodwill a few days ago. I forgot how hard her dvds can be. I exercised to her Great Glutes dvd and I was sore for three days. I don't know how some people can workout to her dvds everyday or every other day. I am starting today to try to do better with my eating. I want to do good until my birthday October 24th so I can go eat at Hardee's and have a couple of mini cupcakes for my birthday. My husband's birthday is November 2nd. So we will be eating out on his birthday too at lunchtime so my weight may go up then again. It is hard having two birthdays so close together.
I am reading the Beck Diet for Life and she has some great quotes in her book about reasons not to be overeating. I have written some of them on 3 by 5 inch cards. I just need to put those somewhere where I will see them everyday or I need to read them when I am tempted to sneak and eat foods that I don't need to be eating. I am not hungry when I am eating those foods. It is just because I see those foods out and then I get into them. Maybe I can hide some of those foods so I won't see them out on the table or on the counter. I am hoping I can stay away from eating anything other than what I have tracked on Sparkpeople. I also have the Spark book and I am reading some of it too. I am going to try to stay to 1300 some calories. I am hoping to get the couple of pounds off that I have gained. Later I hope to lose a few more pounds. It just seems so hard to lose when I am trying to get down to 135 to 140. Those last 10 or so pounds are so hard to lose.
I am going to go start my elliptical workout.
