Migraines WHY

Sunday, October 06, 2019

From September 3rd up until October 2nd I had a migraine. Some day's worse then others. I thought my OTC medication and prescribed meds would suffice, they didn't. So I wound up at my Neurologist's office. He decreased one med added two more and if this doesn't work by December I have to have an MRI done of my noggin to check for a possible brain tumor. This hasn't stopped me though from exercising or my diet. If anything it's encouraged me to be even more health consciousenous. To my surprise I lost an entire pound last week and my migraine is still hanging on.

I wanted to check in and see how your migraines were doing. For myself, I had a couple of giant dietary triggers. I was stunned to find out how much MSG was being added to both foods and spice blend that did not use to contain MSG. Yes, yes, I know some people say MSG is not a trigger. I believe for me it is. I ended up throwing almost every spice blend in my cabinet out. I still use a couple that are MSG free and use spices that are unblended with no additives. I also had to give up most eating out. For me caffein was another trigger. It turned out I was having rebound headaches, but no sane person drinks as much caffeine as I was so that is probably not helpful.

I hope you find the right medication mix and that you are feeling better.

Gosh - I hope that migraine is gone now! And that you do NOT have a brain tumor.

I hope it's nothing so serious as a tumor. My sid-in- law has been suffering for months(August at least) and they want to do a temporal biopsy to see if she has temporal arteritis. The other possibility is she doesn't have proper blood flow to that side of her brain. It's been complex. The good news is these conditions can be corrected. A chiari malformation is another cause for migraines. I would definitely talk to your neurologist about these uncommon conditions so that nothing is overlooked.
Meanwhile...keep on doing your best and keep your chin up. You got this!!
