This is my blog on shorter days vs longer days

Sunday, October 13, 2019

my vote hands down is longer days /shorter nights vs longer nights and shorter days. I love the sunlight. crave it actually. I have seasonal affective disorder and this year has been bad. We have had very little sunlight a lot of rain and wind this summer. Last winter we had snow clear into May and we have already had our first snow fall started Friday night into Saturday and it's been in the 30's cold and grey. Today we have some sun. I have a SAD light which I have kept by my recliner all year this year. I turn it on twice a day on the grey days and it stays on about 20 minutes. It's suppose to trick your brain into believing there is sunlight. I believe it helps my mood and I do take 5000 IU of Vitamin D a day. I would definitely move some where where there is some more sunlight but I couldn't leave my grandkids. I know I could talk my mom into going. I also do not waking up when it's dark and if I did not get home by 4pm I would be coming home in the dark as well like my old job. So yes to the longer days. No to the longer nights.

I'm with you...longer days. Sorry to hear you suffer from SAD. I hear the blue light really helps. Glad you have one and utilize it. Yet I have to think there is no real substitute for the real thing.

I agree - I like the longer days, too. That's great that the SAD light helps you feel better.

emoticon It's hard getting up in the dark - and then it seems to be night again before you know it. Having a S.A.D. light makes a difference, I'm glad you have one. Maybe I should try that, too. emoticon

I believe I had SAD in the winter when I lived in PA - I was definitely affected by less sunlight. I'm glad you have a SAD light and it works for you! I understand you not wanting to move away from your grandkids!
