Dr says pitch the scales

Tuesday, October 22, 2019

I went for my yearly, I've moved so new Dr. I was on maintance, but had gain. He said pitch the scales, my body is in transition and has enough to worry about right now.

I was living in one of the most polluted cities in the US, at 17 feet about sea level, weather permitting I got 2 walks a day with a daily elevation gain of 7 feet. I had sever coughing fits everyday that had me doubled over and I didn't realize it at the time but was physically drained and worn out.

Now I live in one of the least polluted areas in the US at 878 feet above sea level, get 3 or 4 walks a day with a daily elevation gain of between 500 and 700 feet.

Dr says my whole body is in transition. What with cleaning its self, the big change in elevation, and increased exercise, it has to find a new norm.

He increased my calorie intake by making my noon meal bigger, my evening meal smaller and increasing my snacks by adding more protein. He said this was for the increased exercise and would help with the desire to grab the wrong foods. He says it can take up to 2 years for my body to heal its self. It has been 8 months.

So How do I feel, much better. My coughing fits are only a couple times a month and not near as hard, I have more energy and it feels so good to be able to take a deep breath.

So I will continue to weigh myself for the weight loss challenges I'm in right now, but after that, no. I'll just let my body find it's new norm and go by how I feel and look. Well knowing me I'll peak once in a while. That doesn't mean I'll be leaving SP. I still need to remember to eat right and my body needs more exercise then walks. I just won't worry about what the scales say.
