Day 1: Getting Started
Sunday, November 17, 2019
Actually, I've had plenty of "Day 1" days, but getting up and persevering is what it's all about. So I am working on putting my Sparkpage together, and working on filling in my first weekly meal and exercise planner. Something about having things in writing always makes it more real and easier to follow.
I decided it is time to find "me" again. That woman that likes to cook nutritious foods (instead of pick up takeout on the way home from work), and who likes to spend time outdoors hiking and being in nature, rather than sitting in the house spending time on the computer and mindlessly watching tv after work. I miss that woman who planned lots of social events and didn't feel self conscious of her weight in social settings. She's still around, but I think she just needs a little help to get back to the surface.
In the past I have tried lots of different diet "plans". Nutrisystem, JennyCraig, WeightWatchers, Sparkpeople (I was here previously as Sparks07), etc. But it's not like I didn't know how to lose weight, I just had a hard time sticking to it. As I get older, these unchecked poor eating habits and lack of exercise are going to catch up. So now is the time to make some changes. I'm reading more about the benefits of certain dietary lifestyles. I have decided to work towards eating more in the venue of a mediterranean / plant based / anti-inflammatory diet. Notice I'm trying not to use the "diet" word, because that implies I will both go "on" a diet and "off" it eventually. Instead I'm going to work on changing my lifestyle and converting not-so-healthy habits into better ones.
So I made this nifty little weekly planner up this afternoon. I've come up with a few things I'd like to tweak for future weeks. For now though, I need to stick with planning planning planning, until it becomes more habit.
Wish me luck!
