Two weeks keto

Wednesday, November 27, 2019

Well, my first two weeks of eating keto seem to have flown by! I have gone from 170.5lbs to 159.5lbs in 15 days, which feels amazing. I was comparing photos (which I cannot share because I took them in a state of undress that SP does not approve of) and only then did I really notice the difference. I'm enjoying the food, looking forward to the tasty meals I get to eat, and going much longer without being hungry which is great.

But I have encountered something I did not expect. A very good friend of mine went keto 2 weeks before I started... and I feel like she's passive-aggressively undermining me psychologically. I was so happy about the weight loss and progress and sent her a before-and-after snap. And her reply was "lol yeah that's all water weight at the beginning". Gee, thanks, make me feel like I'll gain it all back if I ever go back to a non-keto way of life...

She's been keto for 4 weeks now and is down 17lbs, and I'm down 11lbs in just about two weeks, so I don't know if she's bitter or what the hell but... not cool.

I don't intend to follow the keto lifestyle for all that long, only another two and a half weeks (which is when my fancy work Christmas party is and I am NOT restricting myself from eating all the swanky catered foods!) and possibly until the 20th with that party as a hiccup day. Then we'll see how I feel after the holidays.

But it's frustrating that someone who is supposed to be my friend is so quick to shoot me down. I refuse to believe that ALL 11lbs is waterweight, that seems a little ludicrous. I KNOW that I will put back on probably 5lbs or so once I start eating carbs again - this happened to me last summer when I stopped limiting my carbs to 75-100g a day, so I'm expecting it. But yeah, I don't know... it's discouraging. This is a win for me, I feel so much better, my clothes fit better, I am sleeping better... I don't know. All I wanted was a little support, not scoffing.

Here's hoping to another 5lbs by the end of my two and a half weeks!
